Preface
The “Important Scriptures” in this booklet do not contain the “Testimony of Christ,” (the four Gospels) nor do they contain the “Word of God,” (the Book of Revelation) nor the “History of the Apostles” (the Book of Acts). These scriptures are the inspired words of the Apostles, as they wrote letters to the churches in what is now known as Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Greece, Italy and the twelve tribes in the dispersion.
I feel these scriptures are very necessary in promoting spiritual growth as we feed on the word; the bread of life; while praying in the Spirit with interpretation, and being obedient to the Christ.
The underlining is for emphasis of meaning or that part of the verse we may have overlooked, or it might be an alternate of lesser importance, but very interesting. Capitalization designates importance, and if underlined: great importance!
Comments accompanying the scriptures may be appreciated or ignored depending upon your persuasion and maturity.
These verses are not written for memorization, but rather as a guide to Bible context where spiritual food and revelation may abound. This, coupled with the books of the prophets, should give the child of God great insight into the spiritual mysteries that can bring about maturity in wisdom, knowledge and understanding. We are finite, not infinite, therefore our understanding is limited; nevertheless, as we “fellowship” with the Holy Spirit, we can receive a vast amount of knowledge. For, at the present time, He is THE Teacher!
Important Scriptures
If the Spirit of Him who raised Messiah from the dead dwells in you He who raised Yahshua Messiah from the dead, will give life to your mortal bodies also through the Spirit that dwells in you.
Romans 8:11
Make sure you are baptized in the Spirit, so He is within you!
You have received the Spirit of Sonship, when we cry “Abba! Father!” It is the Spirit Himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are the Children of God, and if children, then Heirs, Heirs of God and fellow Heirs with Messiah.
Romans 8:15-17
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words. And He who searches the hearts of men knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the Saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:26-27
For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He might be the first-born among many brethren.
Romans 8:29
For He said to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. So it depends not upon man’s will or exertion, but upon God’s mercy.”
Romans 9:15-16
“For God has consigned all men to disobedience, that He may have mercy on all.”
Romans 11:32
Has the potter no right over the clay to make out of the same lump one vessel for beauty; and another for menial use? What if God desiring to show His wrath and make known His power, has endured with much patience the vessels of wrath created for destruction, in order to make known the riches of His glory for the vessels of mercy, which He has prepared beforehand for glory, even us, whom He has called.
Romans 9:21-24
Christ died for many, not all! You don’t know who is slated for life and who isn’t: that is why Paul said:
...after admonishing him once or twice, have nothing more to do with him
Titus 3:10
What then? Israel failed to obtain what it sought. The (Jewish) Elect obtained it but the rest were hardened, as it is written: “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that should not see and ears that should not hear, down to this very day.” So I ask, have they stumbled so as to fall? By no means! But through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous. Now if their trespass means riches for the world, how much more will their full inclusion mean?
Romans 11:7-8
But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in their place to share the richness of the olive tree, do not boast over the branches. If you do boast, remember it is not you that support the root, but the root that supports you. 19 You will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast only through faith. So do not become proud, but stand in awe. For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you too will be cut off.
Romans 11:17-22
Lest you be wise in your own conceits, I want you to understand this mystery, brethren: a hardening has come upon Israel for a season, until the full number of Gentiles come in, then all Israel will be saved. As regards the Gospel they are enemies of God, for your sake; but as regards election, they are beloved, for the sake of their forefathers. For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. For God has consigned all men to disobedience, that He may have mercy on all.
Romans 11:25-32
O the depths of the riches and the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways.
Romans 11:33
No one comprehends the mysteries of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God, and we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths from a spiritual language.
1 Corinthians 2:12-13
Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist. And there is one Master, Yahshua Messiah, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. However, not all possess this knowledge!
1 Corinthians 8:6
And all drank the same spiritual drink, for they drank from the supernatural Rock which followed them, and the Rock was Christ.
1 Corinthians 10:4
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of ministries, but the same Master; and there are varieties of energy or power, but it is the same God who inspires them all, in every one.
1 Corinthians 12:4-6
The gifts of the Spirit are: languages, interpretation, prophesy, wisdom, knowledge, healing, powers (miracles), discernment of spirits and faith.
Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for languages, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect, but when the perfect one comes, imperfection will pass away.
1 Corinthians 13:4-10
So faith, hope, love abide, these three, but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13
Make love your aim, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a spiritual language, speaks not to men, but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. He who speaks in a spiritual language edifies himself.
1 Corinthians 14:1-4
Therefore he who speaks in a spiritual language should pray for the power to interpret.
1 Corinthians 14:13
This is one way our Father communicates with us.
I thank God that I speak in spiritual languages more than you all; nevertheless, in church, I would rather speak five words with my mind, in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a spiritual language.
1 Corinthians 14:18-19
This shows that Paul spent hours praying in the Spirit at home, so he would have something to teach in church! Praise God!
Now I want you all to speak in spiritual languages, but even more to prophesy.
1 Corinthians 14:5
This is a corrupt translation! It should read:
Now I want you all to speak in spiritual languages in order that (hina, gk) you may prophesy.
This shows you must be baptized in the Spirit with the evidence of speaking in a spiritual language “hina” in order to prophesy.
The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
1 Corinthians 14:32
If any speak in a language, let there be only two, or at the most three, and let one interpret. But if there is no one to interpret, let them keep silent and speak to themselves and to God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said.
1 Corinthians 14:27-29
If in this life we who are in Christ have only hope, we are of all men most to be pitied. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
1 Corinthians 15:19-20
For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all (many) be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ, the first fruits, then His appearance in the heavens sending out His angels to seal the Jews, slay the beast, cast Satan and host to earth and rapture His bride the elect, leaving the Church to be gathered at the sound of the last trumpet by the seventh angel at the end of Daniel’s 70th week. This is when Christ literally comes (erchomai gk) taking what’s left of the Church into the “air” and depositing them in Jerusalem as priests for the Kingdom age. After the millennium comes the end, when He delivers the Kingdom to God His Father, after destroying every rule and authority and power. For He must rule until He has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. \
1 Corinthians 15:22-27
Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven. I tell you this brethren, flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Lo! I tell you a mystery, we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, this mortal nature must put on immortality.
1 Corinthians 15:49-53
He has put His seal upon us, and given us His Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
2 Corinthians 1:22
For we are not like so many; peddlers of God’s word.
2 Corinthians 2:17
For while we are still in this tent, we sigh with anxiety; not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
2 Corinthians 5:4-5
From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once regarded Christ from a human point of view, we regard Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come. All this is from God who through Christ reconciled us to Himself, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:16-19
Do not be mismated with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14
The point is this: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you will always have enough of everything.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8
For you bear it if a man makes slaves of you, or preys upon you, or takes advantage of you, or puts on airs, or strikes you in the face. To my shame, we were too weak for that!
2 Corinthians 11:20-21
The grace of the Master Yahshua Messiah, and the Love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
2 Corinthians 13:14
This is what I mean: the law which came 430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void. For if the inheritance is by law, it is no longer by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was ordained by angels through an intermediary. Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one.
Galatians 3:17-20
The law was our custodian until Christ came, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a custodian; for in Yahshua Messiah you are all sons of God through faith.
Galatians 3:24-26
Formerly, when you did not know God, you were in bondage to demons that by nature are not gods; but now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and beggarly demons whose slaves you want to be once more? You observe days and months and seasons and years! I’m afraid I have labored over you in vain!
Galatians 4:8-11
You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen from grace.
Galatians 5:4
But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, patience, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23
Even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. He predestined us in love to be His sons through Yahshua Messiah according to the purpose of His will.
Ephesians 1:4-6
In Him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation, and have trusted in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, which is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it.
Ephesians 1:13-14
That the God of our Master, Yahshua Messiah, the Father of Glory, may give you a Spirit of Wisdom and of Revelation in the Knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened.
Ephesians 1:17-18
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God—not because of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For He (Christ) is our peace who has made us (Jew and Gentile) one, and has broken down the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby bringing the hostility to an end.
Ephesians 2:14-16
So then, you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints (Jews) and members of the household of God built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ being the chief cornerstone.
Ephesians 2:18-20
See also Romans 11:17–33.
To make all men see what is the plan of the mystery, hidden for ages in God who created all things. That through the Church, the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the (Satanic) principalities and powers in heavenly places.
Ephesians 3:9-10
Satan no longer has access to 3rd heaven; has been cast out, must use saints! See Ephesians 6:12.
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom all fatherhood in heaven and on earth is named.
Ephesians 3:14-15
Other inhabited worlds? You bet!
There is: one Body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope, that belongs to your call, one Master, one Faith, one Baptism, and one God and Father of us all.
Ephesians 4:4-6
When He (Christ) ascended on high, He led a host of captives, and He gave gifts (ministries: dorean Gk) to men. And His ‘gifts’ were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some teachers, and some pastors.
Ephesians 4:8
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Ephesians 4:30
(No to God, and yes to the flesh, is to grieve the Spirit; and not to spend time with Him.)
Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. Above all take the shield of faith, with which you can quench the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit!
Ephesians 6:11-17
Let’s hope by this time we know the difference between the Word of God, the Testimony of Christ and the inspired writings of the Apostles! See also Revelation 1:2
That if possible, I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already attained this or am already mature, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me His own. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature be thus minded.
Philippians 3:10-16
If you are confused why Paul is so concerned over his resurrection, and why he has to work so hard to attain it—even though Christ has made him His own—we are not talking about the Church but Bride-ship, which is a reward, not a gift! See Revelation 19:7-8 and Matthew 25:1-13.
Rejoice in the Master always; again I will say, rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Master is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will keep your hearts and minds in Yahshua Messiah.
Philippians 4:4-7
He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; for through Him all things were created, in heaven or on earth, visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the Church; He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything He might be preeminent. For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell.
Colossians 1:15-19
Him we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man mature in Christ. For this I toil, striving with all the energy which He mightily inspires within me.
Colossians 1:28-29
He disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public example of them. Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are only a shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. Let no one disqualify you, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, taking his stand on visions. If with Christ you died to the demons of the universe, why do you live as if you still belong to them? Why do you submit to regulations: "Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch," referring to things that all perish as they are used, according to human precepts and doctrines? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting rigor of devotion and self-abasement and severity to the body, but they are of no value in checking the indulgence of the flesh.
Colossians 2:15-23
And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell within you richly, as you teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Colossians 3:15-16
Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer every one.
Colossians 4:5-6
For you remember our labor and toil, brethren; we worked night and day that we might not burden any of you, while we preached to you the Gospel of God.
1 Thessalonians 2:9
But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so through Christ, God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by the word of God, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Master, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Master Himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Master in the air, and so we shall always be with the Master.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17
We will all be transported to Jerusalem where Christ will reign for a thousand years. (We are not going to heaven but Jerusalem!)
But we beseech you, brethren, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Master and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13
Do not quench the Spirit, do not despise prophesying, but test everything; hold fast to what is good, abstain from every form of evil. May the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Master Yahshua Messiah.
1 Thessalonians 5:19-23
Now concerning the appearing of our Master Yahshua Messiah, and our assembling to meet Him, we beg you, brethren, not to let your minds become unsettled, nor be agitated, whether by some message by the Spirit, or some saying or letter that is claimed as coming from us, to the effect that the Day of Christ (not the Day of the Lord) has come. Let no one deceive you in any way!
2 Thessalonians 2:1-3
For that day will not come, unless the (Christian) apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness (anti-Christ) is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming to be God. He (Holy Spirit) who now restrains him will do so until He steps aside, and then the lawless one will be revealed and the Master Yahshua will slay him with the breath of His mouth and destroy him by His appearing. The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
Just remember: Christ cannot come until the Church rebels against God and the first Beast is revealed!!
We did not eat anyone’s bread without paying, but with toil and labor we worked night and day that we might not burden any of you.
2 Thessalonians 3:8
To the King of Ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Timothy 1:17
If you still believe in a triune Godhead, check out the next verse!
Come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, a man, Yahshua the Messiah.
1 Timothy 2:4-6
(See also: Galatians 3:29, Ephesians 4:4-32, Jude 1:25, 1 John 3:1-6, and 1 Corinthians 8:6)
Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or have authority over men; she is to keep silent.
1 Timothy 2:11-12
Ministers likewise must be dignified, not given to double talk, excessive drinking nor monetary greed; they must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.
1 Timothy 3:8-9
Now the Spirit expressly says in later times some will depart from the faith by giving heed to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, who forbid marriage and demand abstinence from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who trust and know the truth. For everything created by God is good and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.
1 Timothy 4:1-5
If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially his own family, he has disowned the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
1 Timothy 5:8
Never admit any charge against an elder except on the evidence of two or three witnesses.
1 Timothy 5:19
