MATURITY – To bring to completion or to become fully developed. This is what the writer of the book of Hebrews is asking of the Church. In order to do this, we are asked to LEAVE THE ELEMENTARY DOCTRINE OF CHRIST BEHIND.
Heb 6:1–3:
Therefore, let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity.
Hebrews 6:1–3
What are the elementary doctrines or teachings of the Christ?
Repentance, SALVATION (faith in God), baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
Heb 6:2 RSV / NIV / TCNT, etc.
The majority of the churches have traveled about as far as salvation and proudly call themselves Evangelicals. They have little or no knowledge about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, much less the Baptism of fire.
I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled. I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how I am constrained until it is accomplished. Do you think that I have come to give PEACE ON EARTH? NO, I TELL YOU, BUT RATHER DIVISION.
Luke 12:49–52
How about laying on of hands? How many know what it means, much less practice it? How about the resurrections of the dead? The Church would guess one, maybe two. There are six that I can find:
- Christ, the Firstfruits: Matt 27:51–53
- The Bride: 2 Thess 2, Rev 7 and 14
- The Church: Rev 20:4–6
- All Israel: Ezek 37 and Rom 11:25–29
- Finally the Great White Throne: Rev 20:11–15
Eternal (age-lasting) judgment: Death and Hades thrown into the lake of fire, and those found written in the Book of Life will continue to live into the New Age, after the Kingdom Age.
Rev 20:11–15 and chapters 21 and 22.
This is the ELEMENTARY DOCTRINE OF THE CHRIST. The Church is supposed to know this, put it behind them, and go on to maturity. Now you know why the Spirit says she is in big trouble.
The Church still thinks it is going to Heaven. She is still on pablum. She must wake up and grow up. Christ is coming here; we are not going there. He will be here for 1,000 years, then our Heavenly Father will come and establish Zion on the highest mountain and remain here for an age of ages with those who love Him. He will be King and Christ will be High Priest. See Hebrews 7:11–25; Revelation 21:1–8; 22:1–5.
The Third Heaven will be dismantled and the Ark of the Covenant will never be made again, mentioned, nor come to mind.
They shall no longer say, The ark of the covenant of the Lord. It shall not come to mind, or be remembered, or missed; it shall not be made again.
Jeremiah 3:16–18
Here are a few scriptures pertaining to maturity:
YET AMONG THE MATURE we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away, but we impart A SECRET AND HIDDEN WISDOM OF GOD.
1 Corinthians 2:6–7
Paul said this to the Corinthians just after he said:
For I DECIDED to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
1 Corinthians 2:2
What else could he decide? That is all they knew!
I press on toward THE GOAL for THE PRIZE of THE UPWARD CALL OF GOD in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are MATURE be thus minded.
Philippians 3:14–15
Paul is not speaking to the Church, but to the Bride. The High Calling or Upward Call is to the Elect, not the Church.
Him (Christ) we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone in ALL WISDOM, that we may present everyone MATURE IN CHRIST. For this I toil, striving with all the energy which He mightily inspires within me.
Colossians 1:28–29
This is the same man, Paul, that said to leave the doctrine of salvation behind and press on to maturity.
Heb 6:1.
Maturity is picking up YOUR OWN CROSS, simply saying NO to temptation and YES to God. Slip into the yoke with Christ. Get baptized in the Holy Spirit with interpretation of your spiritual language.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling (or dividing) the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15
Make love your aim, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts.
1 Corinthians 14:1
