Preface
In the old days, Zion was known as the City of David. David was very special to Almighty God and this was one way of honoring him.
Actually, Zion as a literal place on earth is not here as yet. It will not be here in this age nor the age to come.
Zion is not only a place, but a time in history, where righteousness dwells, where Yahweh God will dwell on earth and rule the world with Messiah as His ensign.
He will raise an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
Isaiah 11:12
The time will be after the reign of the anti-Christ, after the outpouring of the wrath of God known as the day of the Lord, after the Kingdom age where Christ and His Bride rule with a rod of iron for a thousand years putting all His enemies under His feet, and finally after the Great White Throne Judgement. The time is the New Age, where the heavens and earth are cleansed, where men will learn war no more and the lamb will lay down with the lion and a child shall lead them.
The place is Mount Zion, New Jerusalem, the City of God, the City of the Great King. Revelation 21:1-7.
It is the highest of all structures on earth; it is 1500 miles long, 1500 miles wide and 1500 miles high.
The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its breadth; and he measured the city with his rod, twelve thousand stadia;[a] its length and breadth and height are equal.
Revelation 21:16
Yahweh God will be King and Yahshua Messiah will be High Priest forever. He wants us there as well. We will be of the tribe of Judah and grafted into the Olive Tree (Israel).
But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in their place to share the richness[a] of the olive tree, 18 do not boast over the branches. If you do boast, remember it is not you that support the root, but the root that supports you. 19 You will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” 20 That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast only through faith. So do not become proud, but stand in awe. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you.
Romans 11:17-21
And one with the Jews.
for through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built into it for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Ephesians 2:18-22
Rejoice with our Father, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; for He has chosen Zion over the 3rd Heaven for eternity. Let us pray that we will be there too!
Zion
The south west hill of Jerusalem, often called the City of David. This is where we hope to live one day!
I have set my King on ZION, MY HOLY HILL. I will tell of the decree of Yahweh: He said to me, You are my Son, today I begot you. Ask of me and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a ROD OF IRON, AND DASH THEM IN PIECES LIKE A POTTER'S VESSEL.
Psalm 2:6-9
Great is Yahweh and greatly to be praised in the city of our God. His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, MOUNT ZION, in the far north, the City of the great King.
Your right hand is filled with victory; let MOUNT ZION be glad! Let the daughters of JUDAH rejoice because of your judgments! Walk about ZION, go round about her, number her towers, consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels; that you may tell the next generation that this is God, our God for ever and ever. He will be our guide for ever.
Psalm 48:1-3, 11-14
He rejected the tent of Joseph, he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim; but he chose THE TRIBE OF JUDAH, MOUNT ZION, WHICH HE LOVES. He built his SANCTUARY LIKE THE HIGH HEAVENS; he chose David, his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds.
Psalm 78:67-70
On the holy mount stands the city he founded; Yahweh loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken of you, O City of God.
Psalm 87:1-3
Yahweh sends forth from ZION your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your foes.
Yahweh has sworn and will not change his mind, You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
Psalm 110:4
For Yahweh has chosen ZION; he has desired it for his habitation: This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. There I will make a horn to sprout for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.
Psalm 132:13-17
It shall come to pass IN THE LATTER DAYS that the mountain of the house of Yahweh shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it, and many peoples shall come and say: Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths. For out of ZION shall go forth the law, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations and decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.
Isaiah 2:1-4
In that day the BRANCH of Yahweh will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be the pride and glory of the survivors of Israel. And he who is left in ZION and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy, everyone that has been RECORDED FOR LIFE IN JERUSALEM
Isaiah 4:2-3
Yahweh will create over the whole site of MOUNT ZION and over her assemblies A COULD BY DAY, AND SMOKE AND THE SHINING OF A FLAMING FIRE BY NIGHT; for over the Glory there will be a canopy and a pavilion. It will be a shade by day from the heat, and a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain.
Isaiah 4:2-6
Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I am laying in ZION for a foundation A STONE, A TESTED STONE, A PRECIOUS CORNER STONE, of a sure foundation.
Isaiah 28:16
He will come to ZION as Redeemer, to those in JACOB who turn from transgression, says Yahweh. And as for me, this is my covenant with them, says Yahweh: my Spirit which is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your children, or out of the mouth of your children’s children, says Yahweh, from this time forth and for evermore.
Isaiah 59:20-21
Blow the trumpet in ZION; sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of Yahweh is coming, it is near, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness! Like blackness there is spread upon the mountains A GREAT AND POWERFUL PEOPLE; their like has never been from of old, nor will be again after them through the years of all generations.
The earth quakes before them, the heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining. Yahweh utters his voice before his armies, for his host is exceedingly great; he that executes his word is powerful. For the day of Yahweh is great and very terrible; who can endure it?
Joel 2:1-2, 10-11
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of Yahweh is near in the valley of decision. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars have withdrawn their shining. And Yahweh roars from ZION, and utters his voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth shake. But Yahweh is a refuge to his people, a stronghold to the people of Israel. So you will know that I am Yahweh your God, who dwell in ZION, MY HOLY MOUNTAIN. And Jerusalem shall be holy, and strangers shall never again pass through it.
Joel 3:14-17
But in Mount Zion there shall be those that escape, and it shall be holy; and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau stubble; they shall burn them and consume them, and there shall be no survivor to the house of Esau; for the Lord has spoken.
Obadiah 17-18
So the angel who talked with me said to me, ‘Cry out, Thus says the Lord of hosts: I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and for ZION. And I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for while I was angry but a little they furthered the disaster. Therefore, thus says the Lord, I have returned to Jerusalem with compassion; my house shall be built in it, says the Lord of hosts, and the measuring line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem. Cry again, Thus says the Lord of hosts: My cities shall again overflow with prosperity, and the Lord will again comfort ZION and again choose Jerusalem.’”
Zechariah 1:14-17
“Ho! Ho! Flee from the land of the north says Yahweh; for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of heaven, says Yahweh. Ho! Escape to ZION, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon. For thus said Yahweh of Hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the APPLE OF HIS EYE: behold, I will shake my hand over them and they will become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that Yahweh of Hosts has sent me. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of ZION; for lo, I come and I will dwell in the midst of you, says MESSIAH. AND MANY NATIONS SHALL JOIN THEMSELVES TO MESSIAH IN THAT DAY, AND SHALL BE MY PEOPLE; and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that Yahweh of Hosts has sent me to you. And MESSIAH will inherit JUDAH as his portion in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem.”
Zechariah 2:6-12
“Thus says Yahweh, whose furnace is in Jerusalem, BUT WHOSE FIRE IS IN ZION!”
