The Living Creatures
These creatures (Cherubim and Seraphim) have been a constant source of confusion to the church. I believe one of the problems stem from Ezekiel 28:12-19. The allegory as some see it, is about Satan. The problem lies with a very poor translation: verse 14 in the King James:

Thou art the anointed Cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so; thou wast upon the Holy mountain of God…

Ezekiel 28:14 KJV

and verse 16 in the same version reads:

therefore, I will cast thee as a profane thing out of the mountain of God; and I will destroy thee, O Covering Cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

Ezekiel 28:16 KJV

The very first thing you must understand is that Cherub and Cherubim are the same thing. One term is short for the other and may be used interchangeably. The word means: Those grasped or Held Fast. They are not Angels, but Living creatures (Ezekiel 1:5,11,13,14,15,20).

Satan not a Creature, but an Angel, hence, a Man (Isaiah 14:16). ALL ANGELS ARE MEN. (See subject on Angels).

The Cherubim basically do as their name implies: They grasp or hold fast to the Throne of God. They are Burden Bearers! They do not speak, they act—read Ezekiel chapter 1 and chapter 10. Do not confuse these creatures with the Seraphim seen in Isaiah 6:2-3,6 and Revelation 4:6-8, who are also living creatures, but differ in body structure to the Cherubim, and hover over the Throne of God never ceasing to speak noble things about God. Their very name means Noble. The Revised Standard Version of the Bible, verses 14 and 16 in Ezekiel 28, read:

With an anointed Guardian Cherub I placed you…

Ezekiel 28:14

and

…I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and the Guardian Cherub drove you out…

Ezekiel 28:16

Obviously, the allegory is of Adam, not Satan.

The last verse says:

I brought forth fire from the midst of you, it consumed you.

Ezekiel 28:18

As we know from Genesis 6:3, God told Adam he had 120 years left, he was 810 then and he died at the age of 930. God was not happy with Adam and this is probably the way he destroyed him. As we all know, Satan is alive and well.
