In order to give a complete picture, we should go back to the beginning. Keep in mind that God (our Heavenly Father, Yahweh), has no beginning, for he inhabits eternity! But messiah had a beginning:
In the beginning was the logos (wisdom, reasoning or word).....
John 1:1
We all agree by the context of this chapter, logos refers to messiah. Solomon refers to him as the wisdom of God when he prophesies:
Yahweh created me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old. Ages ago before the earth was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. Then I was beside him, like a master workman: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the sons of men.
Proverbs 8:22-23
He is the image of the invisible God, the first born of all creation; for through him all things were created, in heaven and on earth...
Colossians 1:15
And to the messenger of the church in laodicea write: the words of the amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.
Revelation 3:14
Obviously, all things were created through him and for him! He is, after all, God's first born!
To him belongs the inheritance.
Hebrews 1:1-5
Therefore, I (Yahweh) will divide him a portion with the great, and he will divide the spoil with the strong (elect).
Isaiah 53:12
Keep in mind, the elect is not limited to christians alone, there are many that are sincerely devoted to God that will eventually become messianic.
Romans 11:25-29
The Elohim (Gods) said: 'let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth....'. So the Gods created man in their own image, in the image of the God's they created him; male and female they created them.
Genesis 1:26-27
And Yahweh appeared to him (Abraham) by the oaks of mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day. He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold three men stood in front of him.
Genesis 18:1-2
Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, that the people may drink.
Exodus 17:6
And all ate the same supernatural food and all drank the same supernatural drink. For they drank from the supernatural rock which followed them, and the rock was Christ.
1 Corinthians 10:3-4
Take the rod and assemble the congregation, you and aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water.
Numbers 20:8
Because you did not believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the people of israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.
Numbers 20:10-12
But as it is, he (messiah) has appeared once for all at the end of the age to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Hebrews 9:26
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called wonderful; counsellor of the mighty God the father of eternity; the prince of peace.
Isaiah 9:6
Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, 'pray let us detain you, and prepare a kid for you. And the angel of Yahweh said to manoah, 'if you detain me, I will not eat of your food; but if you make ready a burnt offering, then offer it to Yahweh' (for manoah did not know that he was the angel of Yahweh.) and manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, 'what is your name, so that, when your words come true, we may honor you?' and the angel of Yahweh said to him, why do you ask my name, seeing it is wonderful?
Judges 13:15-18
Let’s move on from the celestial to the terrestrial. Messiah was born in Bethlehem. John the Immerser (Baptist) said:
I have baptized you with water, but He (Messiah) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.
Mark 1:8
He also said:
Behold, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.
John 1:29
It appears Messiah has two main objectives: to take away man’s sin and to get him baptized in the Holy Spirit. But let’s take a look at His childhood first!
And to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed? He (Yahshua) grew up before Him (God) like a young plant, like a root out of dry ground; He had no form or comeliness that we should look at Him, and no beauty that we should desire Him. He was despised and rejected by men and was acquainted with pain and disease; and as one from whom men hide their faces, He was despised, and we regarded Him not.
Isaiah 53:1-3
To say that He was born homely would be the understatement of the year. Let’s face it, He was born down right unattractive! And how about His childhood pain and disease? Why?
Therefore He had to be made like His brethren in every respect, so that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in the service of God, to make expiation for the sins of the people. For because He Himself has suffered and been tempted, He is able to help those who are tempted.
Hebrews 2:17-18
And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon Him.
Luke 2:40
We must understand that for the Messiah to be a merciful High Priest (mediator between God and man), this man had to go through and be subjected to all the trials, tribulations, and embarrassment of mankind!
Yahshua Messiah (Jesus Christ in Greek) started His ministry when He was about 30 years of age. He taught spiritual truth, did miracles, healed the sick, and cast out demons. He preached on the Kingdom of God and taught on the end times.
When His disciples asked Him why He spoke in parables, He said:
To you it has been given to know the secrets of the Kingdom of God; but for others they are in parables, so that seeing, they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
Luke 8:10
This was to fulfill the prophecy spoken against Israel by Isaiah:
Go to this people and say, You shall indeed hear but never understand, and you shall indeed see but never perceive. Make the heart of this people fat, and their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.
Isaiah 6:9-10
Nevertheless, Messiah said:
I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Matthew 15:24
When Messiah prayed to God, His Father, He said:
And this is eternal life, that they know You the only true God, and Yahshua Messiah whom You have sent. I glorified You on earth, having accomplished the work You gave Me to do, and now Father, glorify Me in Your own presence with the glory I had with You before the world was made.
John 17:3-5
Now God took over. He had the Jews convict Him, the Romans beat Him and crucify Him; but He had to send Himself to hell!
First, He was beaten beyond human resemblance:
As many were astonished at Him, His appearance was so marred, beyond human resemblance, and His form beyond that of the sons of men.
Isaiah 52:14
Second, the Roman crucifixion used the crux—the double wood. The condemned carried a door post or bolt made of wood weighing about 100 pounds across his shoulders, walking through the streets declaring his crime until he reached Golgotha (the place of a skull). There the door post or patibulum was fixed to the stauros or stake, weighing about 500 pounds, which stayed at the site of crucifixion. The condemned was placed with his arms stretched out and legs bent, so as he asphyxiated, he could straighten his legs, catch another breath, and start the death process all over again.
It is said, “A strong man can die a thousand deaths.” This made the Roman cross the greatest of all torture machines!
Third, Messiah had to drink the cup. He said in the garden:
Abba, Father, all things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet, not what I want, but what You want.
Mark 14:36
The cup was filled with all the sins and disease of mankind!
Yet it pleased God to crush Messiah by disease, to see if His soul would offer itself in restitution; that God might see Messiah’s seed and prolong His days, and that the purpose of God might prosper in the hand of Messiah.
Isaiah 53:10
Surely He has borne our disease and carried our pain; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with His scars we are healed.
Isaiah 53:4-5
He could have reneged, not drank the cup, just settled for the crucifixion—then what?
For yet a little while, and the coming one shall come and not tarry; but My righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.
Hebrews 10:37-38
But He didn’t shrink back—praise God—so I don’t have to go to the pit!
I will close with this magnificent scripture:
In the days of His flesh, Messiah offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to Him who was able to save Him from death, and He was heard for His godliness. Although He was a Son, He learned obedience through what He suffered; and finishing His task, He became the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey Him, being designated by God a High Priest with the same rank as Melchizedek.
Hebrews 5:7-10
As a High Priest, He will still be God’s Lamb, but to you, me, and the world, He will be the Lion of Judah. He will reign as King for 1,000 years, then turn the Kingdom over to His Heavenly Father (God Almighty), who will reign for an age of ages with Messiah at His side as High Priest. Neither He, nor His Bride, nor the churches (Messianic communities) will suffer again (Revelation 21–22).
